About Us

Our passion for mountain biking and community is at the heart of everything we do. Founded in 2018, we started offering group rides at our local MTB trails in South Florida. Since then, we have grown into a thriving community, offering a range of group rides, skills clinics, private coaching and events to empower and inspire female riders of all levels.

I began my mountain biking journey back in 2008 when my boyfriend took me to the trails on a hybrid bike. I couldn’t say I loved it right off the back, but I didn’t hate it either. I was definitely feeling the challange of it, and that, I liked. Within a year I was on a proper bike, and to improve my skills started taking clinics from NC to Whister, BC. Mountain biking has taught me so much and taking me to some of the most breathtaking places imaginable. And because of that, I wanted to share this love of mine with other women. In 2018 really feeling to call to give back to our beautiful MTB Community and to get more women on the trails I created the MTB Chicks with Melissa as my partner knowing she had this same calling. Every day I’m astonished and proud of what we created. Inspired by the many instructors that I’ve had the privilege of learning from, I became a PMBIA certified instructor for Beginner and Intermediate mountain bikers. And and I am SO STOKED to be able to watch the light go on and smiles galore when I’m helping others in mountain biking. It’s such a great feeling.

In 2011, I bought my first mtb, but was too scared to go into the trails. I finally found the courage to go into a trail in the late 2013 And well, the rest is history!

The moment I found Mtbing, I discovered MYSELF. To the outside world, it seemed I was doing “just fine”, but internally I was struggling. As I built the courage to ride my bike & trails, the more I built my self-esteem & strength. Overtime, I finally found my VOICE, my TRIBE and my JOY!

It hasn’t always been rainbow & butterflies… I took a hiatus for 3 yrs due to LIFE, but happy to report I returned for good in 2018. The year that my amazing friend, Rosie & I decided to create MTB Chicks. Here we are in 2023 with nearly 1000 members in our Facebook group & still creating magic for these badass women.

You’ll find me at my favorite local trail at Markham, but absolutely love Alafia in Central Florida. It’s always fun heading up north & checking out some trails in the mountain. Additionally, I’m an ambassador for World Ride MTB- an organization that empower women worldwide through mtbing.

I just love riding my bike!!! No matter what life throws at me, the minute I get on my bike, my life is filled with pure JOY!

Head of PR, and other Fun Stuff
I was introduced to mountain biking by my parents at a young age. My mom would take me and my younger brothers to our local park on the weekends to ride the trails. I stopped riding as a teenager and would later pick it back up in 2013. I started searching for other women to ride with because I would ride with my boyfriend (my now husband), and his friends. I found the Hardtail Honies on Facebook and several years later I would find the MTB Chicks of South Florida. Inspired by the group’s passion to ride, inspire and grow I felt right at home.

Now as a dedicated member of the group I’m passionate about encouraging other women to feel more confident on their bikes. I’m a web designer by day, the group’s social media maven and a brand ambassador for Cognative MTB.

Tenacious Trail Warrior

My name is Lisbeth Colon and I am in love with all things biking.   I started my biking journey when I was 30 years old. At this time, I was trying to find an extracurricular activity that would get me outside more often.  I started running and loved it but eventually decided that I wanted to do more so the next logical thing at this point was triathlons.  I ended up buying a road bike but eventually, I became a little scared of riding on the road.  At this point, I got a mountain bike and instantly fell in love. I have been on my mountain bike for about 9 years now.  I still ride my road bike and ride a gravel bike, but on my mountain bike is where I have all the feels.

This has led me to explore many different trails around the country and challenge myself in ways that I never imagined. I have a level 1 instructor certification from the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association as well as my CPR and First aid certification.  I love mentoring and inspiring new riders, especially those of us that do not look the part of traditional athletes.  I love the community we created through the MTB Chicks and its ability to bring in women from all walks of life and make them feel welcomed and empowered. Being a  brand ambassador for Mack Cycle and Fitness and am also able to represent women in the sport.

My favorite local trail is Virginia Key, I love the technical features and the amazing ocean views are a definite plus.  I also enjoy the levees, and getting in the miles and the beauty of the everglades at sunset cannot be beaten. My bike has allowed me to see things that I could not otherwise see and it has allowed me to forge friendships that I will forever be grateful for. I look forward to riding my bike to many new places in the years to come.

Happiness Hero

I fell in love with mountain biking in 2015 when I ventured to my local trail on a used Huffy hardtail, and felt I had been transported to my childhood forest 1000 miles away. I’ve always enjoyed cycling,  and mountain biking was the perfect fit; it has been a conduit God has used to heal my mind, body and soul, and I treasure each ride.  I have met amazing people in the MTB community and gained a new tribe of fun and encouraging women.  I am sad I did not discover mountain biking decades ago, but grateful for every ride this G-Ma body takes! One of my favorite things about MTB has been exploring new trails wherever I travel and also capturing our adventures on camera.

I enjoy sharing this sport and our beloved trails with others, and for this reason became a certified Ride Guide with BICP in 2021. I have since been added as an admin for the MTB Chicks, where I am excited to support and encourage fellow women riders.
